Casey Chen
Casey Chen is a ceramic artist whose work blends folklore, mythology, and pop culture, influenced by East Asian porcelain traditions and childhood memories of cartoons. Chen's hand-thrown plates and vases feature traditional Chinese motifs alongside contemporary pop culture elements, creating a vibrant cultural pastiche. His recent work draws on imagery from Chinese literature, Japanese animation, and American cartoons, offering a playful and tender homage to East Asian porcelain craft.
Since graduating with a Bachelor of Ceramics from the National Art School in 2020, Chen has exhibited widely throughout Sydney, NSW. Notable solo shows include 108 Stars and Spirits and Bombs Away at N.Smith Gallery. Chan has also participated in numerous group exhibitions such as Art Fair Tokyo and Ceramic Stories at the Australian Design Centre.
