David Ray
David Ray is a leading Australian ceramic artist known for his vibrant neo-baroque creations. Based in the Yarra Valley, his work combines an abundance of colour, texture, and decal with a critical commentary on consumerism and Australian cultural norms. Ray’s ceramics subvert traditional forms and challenge notions of value and status, blending historical references with contemporary concerns.
Ray’s distinguished career spans over 30 years, with his artwork being held in numerous Australian and International collections, including the National Gallery of Victoria and the Minneapolis Institute of Art. He has received accolades such as the ‘2019 Winner of Excellence Award’ at the Victorian Craft Awards and the Manningham Victorian Ceramic Award in 2018.
