Johanna Hildebrandt is formally known for her interest in nature. Her use of paint and clay captures the Australian landscape in a vivid display of colour and organic textures. Born in Germany, Hildebrandt began her artistic journey specialising in sculpture. Her fascination with the natural landscape emerged as a student and continued to develop since she arrived in Australia nearly fifty years ago. The unique flora and fauna that cover Australia's land illuminated Hildebrandt's connection to the natural world. The untouched wilderness inspires a serene tranquillity that Hildebrandt masterfully captures through her ceramics and paintings.
