Gallery LNL is pleased to present Woodfire 2025, the gallery's annual survey of leading contemporary woodfired ceramics from Australia, Korea and Japan, on view from September 5 to October 4. The exhibition features new and rare works by Australian masters Chester Nealie and Bill Samuels, shown alongside emerging voices such as Joshua Rowell and Moraig McKenna. We are delighted to welcome back artists from Korea's Mungyeong region, whose works embody a lifelong dedication to the traditional Mangdaengi kiln. In collaboration with Tosei Kyoto Gallery, the presentation includes significant works by Japanese masters Goro Suzuki and Ryuichi Kakurezaki, whose modern rendition of the Oribe and Bizen traditions will be exhibited in Australia for the first time. Woodfiring is distinguished by its exacting, process-driven practice that demands a deep command of materials and their interplay within the kiln. Spanning Australia, Korea and Japan, Woodfire 2025 offers a rare and extensive survey of these matured practices.
