Gallery LNL is pleased to present Abstract Synergies, a duo exhibition of ceramics by Kevin White and Sergei Shatrov that explores the concept of abstraction in ceramics through form, surface and material.
White's refined vessels are grounded in Japanese and European ceramic traditions, while Shatrov's woodfired works foreground material transformation, irregularity and chance.
Presented in dialogue, their works position abstraction as a material language that connects tradition with contemporary practice, precision with spontaneity, and structure with surface.

Kevin White
Kevin White is an internationally recognised ceramicist whose practice brings together traditional ceramic techniques and a contemporary approach to form.
Influenced by both Japanese and European ceramic traditions, his work constructs abstract rhythm and balance through surface and pattern. Decoration is not treated as a purely superficial element, but as an integral formal language that heightens the vessel's curves, proportions and spatial presence. His works are in the collection of numerous public institutions such as the Gift Prefectural Ceramic Museum, National gallery of Australia, and the National Gallery of Victoria. -

Sergei Shatrov
Sergei Shatrov has maintained a ceramic practice for more than 30 years, with a particular focus on wood firing and the transformations produced through material, fire and chance.
While his work draws on traditions of Japanese ceramics, it develops a distinct formal language through the tension between control and spontaneity. Irregular surfaces, tactile textures and the unpredictable traces of the firing process are central to the material presence of his work.
