The Sydney Teapot Show

  • The Sydney Teapot Show has become an institution in the Ceramics community over the past 30+ years. Inspired, ridiculous, comical and intriguing teapots feature in the competition and exhibition which in recent years has become part of Sydney Craft Week, a festival run by the Australian Design Centre whose aim is to showcase the exceptional quality of contemporary craft. All teapots are handmade ceramics by potters from around Australia. Various categories are suggested to the artists who can choose to enter up to three teapots each. Prizes are provided by supportive businesses and tea lovers.

Originating at the Old Bakery Gallery in Lane Cove, the Teapot Show was passed on to the Inner City Clayworkers co-op where it was a highlight of the annual program for over a decade. When the Clayworkers closed their Glebe venue the Teapot Show was passed on to Kerrie Lowe Gallery, now known as Gallery Lowe and Lee. Specialising in ceramics, we have been located at the University end of King Street in Newtown since the early 90s. All are welcome to visit the Teapot Show and cast their vote in the People's Choice. The Gallery is open every day of the week during the exhibition.
